Stories taken from her diaries and journals, vividly recount

more recent footage of Mardy in conversation with her friend,
Terry Tempest Williams. Harrison Ford narrates, and Lyn Dalebout
reads from Mardy's books and journals as the voice of the
young Mardy Murie. There are appearances by George Schaller,
John Denver, Celia Hunter, and many, many others. |

Mardy marries Olaus Murie, a wildlife biologist, and they honeymoon on a 3 month boat and dog sled expedition into the Brooks Range. Mardy and their children accompany Olaus on his trips into the Alaska wilderness to study the wildlife. When Olaus retires both Mardy and Olaus decide to devote their lives to protecting the Alaskan wilderness that they both love so much. |

| Two in the Far North |
| Mardy Murie tells her own story in Two in the Far North. Mardy kept detailed journals whenever they traveled, and this book is based on those journals. Part one is about Mardy's childhood in Fairbanks, Alaska. In part two Mardy meets Olaus, they marry and take a trip by boat and dog sled into the Brooks Range to study the wildlife. Martin Murie is born and he accompanies Mardy and Olaus in part three on their expedition up the Old Crow river to study the abundant waterfowl. After Olaus resigned from the U.S. Biological Survey he and Mardy concentrated their efforts on saving the Alaska wilderness. Part four of the book is about their return to the Brooks Range for a more detailed study, sponsored by the Wilderness Society and other conservation oriented organizations. |
